Bank Reconciliation (Back Office)
Processing the bank statements and making sure all items are posted to the appropriate subledgers is a key interdependency point. Most notably, Revenue Cash Allocation depends on posting the bank statements quickly and accurately. ✓ Open Item Management At any point in time, Bank Reconciler must have the confidence and evidence to say that we are in control of the bank accounts. Any aged items must be understood to the best of our ability and have evidence of sufficient investigation to avoid the item remaining open for any extended period of time. Bank Reconciler should actively follow-up on the open item and investigate as far as possible on day 1 and then followed up daily until resolved. ✓ Bank Reconciliation Bank Reconciliation plays an important part in providing evidence of good control. Bank Reconciler will perform daily and monthly reconciliations for all bank GLs, bank subledgers and other CM-owned balance sheet accounts (varies from entity to entity). |

Cash Forecasting (Front Office)
FO Cash Management Cash Forecasting operations are based on a detailed and comprehensive forecasting of the Company's cash inflows and outflows to facilitate the effective utilization of cash resources, through.
The Cash Forecaster must ensure that cash is available in the Bank Accounts to meet working capital expenditure and other financing requirements, and that the flows of cash are managed efficiently. ✓ Cash Management Planning Cash Management planning/forecasting should make available information concerning actual and projected future cash flows (such as size, duration, currencies etc.). This information should be used to give a rolling five-week daily cash position forecast by currency. ✓ Use of Banking Facilities In order to improve overall Group cash performance, Operating Companies are required to minimize local cash held. When cash pooling arrangements have been developed with the Group Treasury Centers, there should be no need for a Group-owned company to hold any cash locally. These pooling arrangements should be used where possible, subject to tax clearance (such that stamp tax/withholding tax be avoided) and compliance with Central Bank regulations. FO Cash Management oversees a very efficient and effective Cash Management structure that seeks to optimize the benefits to be derived from surplus funds and minimize the risk of cash shortage and the high cost of borrowing. Integral to the success of this complex, truly global Cash Management approach is high quality cash forecasting – prior information of what funds will be where and when enables Treasury to make the best decisions on how to make the money work for Shell globally. |

Director Appointments
Navie can provide this advice and sign off in relation to most companies (excluding Royal Dutch Shell itself) as long as Shell has at least 50% ownership. Some countries are outside of Navie’s remit, and if Navie is unable to provide sign off for any reason then you will be directed to an appropriate Tax Focal to assist you. The key tax risk in relation to Director appointments or Directors dialling in to Board meetings from overseas is that the tax residence of the company might inadvertently “migrate” based on where the Directors are carrying out their activities. To assess this risk, Navie will ask a series of questions about your company and the location of the Director(s). Based on your answers, Navie will cross reference the tax residence tests of the country where the company is located and the country where the Director is based, and will advise on whether there is a risk and how this can be mitigated. When responding to Navie, please ensure you read the questions and requirements carefully. The Tax sign off will not be valid if the responses you provide are not accurate or the conditions stated in the Tax sign off email are not adhered to. Please also be aware that Navie will capture certain details about your Line of Business and Location in order for the advice and responses to be audited, which will contribute to our assurance processes and Navie’s ongoing development. |
